The Five Movements — a guided journey

Tap a glowing point
Zone 01 · Jaw
The vault of unsaid words
Where it lives
In the hinge of the temporomandibular joint and the masseter — one of the strongest muscles you own. Every time heat is swallowed instead of spoken, every smile held over a scream, this vault records it. It isn't just holding back words; it's holding back your voice.
You may notice
Clenching at night. An ache that grows by evening. A smile that takes effort to hold.
A 60-second practice
1Rest your palm softly against your jaw and let your teeth part slightly.
2Breathe into the hinge for three slow breaths — only as deep as feels comfortable.
3Ask: "What would I say if it were safe?" — and write one sentence of the answer.
Zone 02 · Shoulders
The weight that was never yours
Where it lives
Across the trapezius — and deeper, between the shoulder blades, where the fire of having to be strong alone settles layer by layer. Every burden picked up that was never yours to carry is stored here as density.
You may notice
Knots that outlast every massage. Shoulders that creep toward your ears. A heaviness that returns by mid-afternoon.
A 60-second practice
1Inhale and raise both shoulders toward your ears; hold for three seconds.
2Exhale with an audible sigh and let them drop completely.
3Name one load that belongs to someone else — and set it down for the rest of today.
Zone 03 · Solar plexus
The power center
Where it lives
Just below the rib cage — the coiled knot where your will lives, and where it burns when it has been overridden. When your choices were made for you, again and again, the charge went straight here and stayed, held back by sheer force.
You may notice
A tight fist of pressure under the ribs. A burning when you bite your tongue. Something coiled and ready that never gets to move.
A 60-second practice
1Place one hand flat just below your ribs.
2Breathe wide into the sides of your ribs, not just deep.
3Say quietly: "This power is mine to direct." Let each exhale be longer than the inhale.
Zone 04 · Belly
The second brain
Where it lives
In the gut — your enteric nervous system, the second brain that remembers everything. Whatever was accepted but never truly digested sits here, energetically unfinished, held at a distance, still waiting to be completed.
You may notice
A knot you stopped noticing years ago. A belly that tightens in the exact seasons of life that were hard to stomach.
A 60-second practice
1Warm both hands and rest them on your belly.
2Make three slow, gentle circles.
3Ask: "What is still waiting to be finished?" You don't need the whole answer — the question itself begins the digestion.
Zone 05 · Lower back
The ground
Where it lives
At the base of the spine and in the psoas — the muscle of vigilance, wrapped around your lumbar spine, holding the alert of a system that rarely felt safe enough to rest. When the ground under your life shook, this is where the bracing went.
You may notice
A flare exactly when security feels thin. Stiffness on waking. A base that never quite lets go.
A 60-second practice
1Sit or lie where something solid supports your back.
2Give your full weight to that support — actually let it hold you.
3Take three long exhales. Each one tells your base: "for this moment, the ground holds."
Zone 06 · Hands
The ghost of a fist
Where it lives
In the fingers and palms — the charge of all the times you wanted to act and couldn't, wanted to push something away and had to accept it. The hands are the last place anyone thinks to look, so this is the fire that gets carried the longest.
You may notice
Stiffness without cause. A low, constant tension. Fingers that curl on their own during hard conversations.
A 60-second practice
1Slowly close both fists and hold for five seconds.
2Open them in slow motion, fingers wide.
3Shake them loose — and let one small held thing leave with the movement.
The method
Five movements
1LocateFind where it lives. Meet it without fixing.
2InquireAsk what it has been protecting you from.
3DialogueThank the guardian for its service.
